The 2.017 mile run/walk is an out-and-back course and will start and end at the Imperial River Company. Due to traffic restrictions, Half marathoners will meet at this location to take a shuttle ride to the start line and then finish their point-to-point race at the Imperial River Company. The half marathon may be a little tricky on the BLM road, but is sure to promise some beautiful scenery following the Deschutes River. You can checkout the details of the half marathon course and elevation changes on Map My Run, including the hill work starting in the first tenth of a mile with an increase of 96 feet in elevation.
That’s no biggie. Wait until you take on the 312 foot increase in elevation over 0.9 mile in distance (read “big hill” here). That “big hill” will start at 1.59 miles into the course. Runners and walkers are welcome as the course offers a 5 hour limit and will host 6 aid stations. Half marathoners will receive a finisher’s shirt and medal to commemorate the accomplishment.
Awards will be given for top overall and division finishers for both events. Post race celebration and awards ceremony will take place at the finish location, Imperial River Company along with Widmer Brothers beer.
Along with lodging available at the race location, check out: The River Run Lodge, The Deschutes Motel, or The Oasis.
