Jessica’s First Bauerfeind Product: Sports Ankle Support

Specs:

  1. Faster muscle control
  2. Stays in place during movement
  3. Light and breathable
  4. Intermittent compression provides stimulation
  5. Reliable stabilization under high loads
  6. More durable than a tape bandage

Impressions:

I have to admit – when I opened the box to try the Sports Ankle Support product, I was a tad intimidated. Why? Well, because the product isn’t something that I have seen available outside of a physical therapy or physicians office; it’s not the typical ankle support product you would see littering the aisles of your local Walgreens. With that, I was nervous about using it incorrectly, and getting frustrated in my attempt to get the product on my ankle to try it out.

After successfully placing the brace on my left foot (they are left/right specific), I first used it indoors without a sock or other item over. I wore the brace for 3 hours this way. Suffering from plantar fasciitis, I have to admit – even using the product for 3 hours lounging about the house, it did decrease the sensation of the achy/pain feeling in my arch.

Next, on another occasion, I tried the brace out while running. Socks fit over the brace perfectly fine, and it did not bunch, chafe or otherwise annoy me while running. Additionally, I felt the same relief from the plantar fasciitis wearing it this way (with shoes, socks, and being active). Needless to say – I was pleasantly surprised and impressed!

If you find it difficult to get the brace on, Bauerfeind support is outstanding and will guide you through the proper way to put on, and use, any of their products.

Jessica’s Second Bauerfeind Product: Sports Compression Socks (Run and Walk)

Specs:

  1. Reduces muscle vibrations
  2. Protective zone – reduces pressure and rubbing on the Achilles tendon
  3. Compression – provides improved circulation and increased endurance
  4. Breathable and durable material

Impressions:

Wow! Having recently become a huge fan of compression wear after running, I have to say these are currently my favorite! Customer care informed me I could wear the sports compression socks with the sports ankle support if I desired lots of compression. I tried this – and it was indeed lots of compression, which wasn’t what I wanted or needed at the time. Maybe after my next 50k! I’ll re-post if I try this!

The socks are very lightweight and not ‘hot/warm/sweaty’ feeling when they are on. To really make sure I was giving the product a “run for its money”, I did wear them while running on the treadmill to see if they caused any irritation or other annoyances when worn while performing activities. They did not! Hooray! I would feel very confident wearing these during a 5K, or even a marathon and beyond distance. And – they are machine washable which is fantastic (I like to get things really muddy running on trails!).

Additionally, the sole and instep are lightly padded, which is a plus for me. I wear minimalist running shoes while racing, and the added padding is always appreciated. These socks are so meticulously crafted that there is a cut out in the Achilles tendon area to prevent unwanted pressure and friction.

Both Bauerfeind products I was able to try definitely receive a huge thumbs up for me. They are outstanding products, well made, and the customer service care after you receive the product is superb.
