Balega, which are awesome socks to start with, have a new “Proudly American” design

Quick note for those of you who really get into the 4th of July or USATF Olympic Trials spirit, or just know how awesome Balega socks are and want some new ones:

Balega is releasing a new design for their Ultralight n0-show sock: the “Proudly American” design is a limited edition sock in red, white and blue. They’re even more patriotic because they’re made in the U.S.A. (North Carolina) from U.S.-sourced yarns. The company, which also has operations in South Africa, created them ahead of the summer Olympics to recognize their pride in being a U.S.-made product. They’ll be available starting July 1 for $12/pair. Check them out online at the Balega website.

Features of the Ultralight no-show sock include seamless toes, Drynamix fabric to help sweat evaporate quickly, a rear-ankle tab to prevent slipping, and cushioned heel and toe material for a comfy ride. These are left-right specific socks. I’ll do a review of them after I get a pair, in advance of the Games (and Labor Day) so you can see what I have to say after testing them out.

I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
