At the heart of Girls on the Run are amazing volunteers whose commitment and passion impact the lives of thousands of girls each year. Our volunteers are inspirational role models dedicated to empowering girls to become healthy and confident young women. Whether you have a couple hours a day, week, month or year to help our cause, we would love to hear from you.
In a fun and exercise-based curriculum, girls are taught self confidence, inspired to be joyful, healthy, independent thinkers, and so much more all while throwing in some training runs to complete a 5K. If you missed out on becoming a running buddy, it’s not too late to help out. If you’ve ever ran a race and visited the water/aid station, needed questions answered about the course or exchanging your race shirt… you probably spoke to a volunteer. Give back to the running community and help this event be a successful one while cheering for all the participants successfully completing their 5k. Volunteer positions needed vary, but include tasks such as aid station support, directing runners on the course (and cheering!), information guru to answer questions, direct traffic in a parking lot, pre race set up, registration, t-shirts… and so much more. You’ll see me out on the course with my running buddy, as this is my first year participating with GOTR (Girls on the Run). After cheering and watching these dedicated kids on their practice 5K last week, I am in awe and excited to see the energy at their event in less than two weeks!! These kids are amazing and adjectives like “dedicated and “determined” just don’t seem to capture adequately the spunk, grit, courage, motivation and sheer energy and enthusiasm these kids have. I can’t wait to be there on May 21st…. and although I may have been paired with someone a bit more speedy than I can keep up with, I am so honored to be a part of this experience.
When: Saturday, May 21st
Time: volunteer shift time varies from 7:00am-12:00pm
