Race Preview: 2016 Color The Gorge 5K

Looking to add a little color to your race schedule?  Look no further than supporting the local Color The Gorge 5K taking place on May 14th at the Lewis and Clark Festival Park in The Dalles.   Hosted by The Dalles Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Mid-Columbia Health Foundation, the event is put together to help benefit the Level the Playing Field Project with the goal to improve community wellness, specifically of our youth population, both athletes and non-athletes.  50% of race registration profit will go to charity.

I love fun runs and nothing makes them more fun than having a group of friends and family to join you out on the course.  The first time I ran with my kids was a a color themed race and then about a year, later I volunteered at an event so I could toss a little color at the participants as they zoomed, danced, or walked past.  These races are not for everyone, I admit, and certainly a time to take things a little less seriously (untimed event) and add a splash of silly.  Wear all white at the start line and get a little creative with it!  I usually start with a white tutu that ends up looking tie dyed or head to the thrift store and give new life to an old (and hopefully white) wedding dress.  Cotton, however will probably let the color “stick” a little better to your outfit.  Whatever you wear, have fun!
