Albertina Kerr's Race for the Roses occurs on Sunday, April 17, 2016.
"Good Cause. Great Race." Race for the Roses is an event a lot of runners and walkers look forward to all year. This year, the event will take place on Sunday, April 17, 2016, and feature a half marathon, 10K and 5K. What is super awesome about Race for the Roses is that it is organized by a team of community volunteers. Combined, these dedicated volunteers put in over 1,000 hours of service. That's a lot of time! Additionally, every single penny of proceeds from the race benefit the local Portland office of the non-profit Albertina Kerr.
If you aren't familiar with the wonderful services of Albertina Kerr, here is a brief snapshot of their work - "We're building an army of angels. A community that stands together. Where we challenge the norm to create a society that has no barriers. Where people who face developmental disabilities and mental health challenges are included and empowered. Where families are supported and children have reason to smile. Where everyday people reach out to the most vulnerable and give back to their community."
