I need my rabbit ears! Stat! Foot Traffic, an amazing group of running stores in Portland, presents the Hop Hop Half Marathon and 5K on Saturday, March 26, 2016. This is "Portland's Most Fun Half Marathon and 5K", occurring on Easter weekend, with an awesome Easter theme. The after-race-party sure sounds pretty fun, too! The event start and finish line (and post-race party) will be located at Kliever Armory, which means a dry, warm, indoor location to celebrate! The USATF certified, out-and-back half marathon course will take participants along the paved paths of Marine Drive, and feature amazing views of the Columbia River, Mt. Hood (if it isn't cloudy), and airplanes landing at the Portland International Airport. I love watching the planes land, so this is a unique, yet special, 'extra' for me. Five aid stations will be along the half marathon course, and feature water, Nuun electrolyte drink and Clif Shots gel, as well as restrooms. The half marathon is walker friendly, too. Here are the details about course time limits for the half marathon: "... participants maintain about a 16 min. mile. HOWEVER, the great thing about this course is that it allows for slower paces even if we open traffic back up (it’s on a bike path for the majority of the course!). This means we will be able to keep aid stations and the finish line open long enough for participants maintaining up to a 19 min. mile to finish!"

The Hop Hop Half Marathon also features an out-and-back 5K that will be flat and fast, just like the half marathon. Runners and walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K, as well – the course time limit is 55 minutes.

Check out the GIANT Hop Hop Half Marathon and 5K finisher medal from the 2015 race! Gorgeous!

Here’s the deal on the post-race finish line party. This sounds extra amazing, to me! Half marathon finishers will receive a a giant Easter Egg finisher medal, and a commemorative champagne flute that is yours to keep after enjoying your celebratory mimosa (21+, bring ID)An Easter brunch, featuring hardboiled eggs, fruit, and cinnamon rolls will be occurring for participants. And don’t forget about the costume awesomeness (dress up!) and the Easter Egg painting too. What a party!

Your entry fee of $79 for the half marathon, or $42 for the 5K (until March 1) includes an event tech shirt, giant Easter Egg half marathon medal (or a 5K medal) and a commemorative champagne flute. Shirt cut-off is March 1 – after March 1, shirt is not guaranteed. Next price increase occurs on March 2, so get registered now to secure your spot and save some money!
