Race Preview: Shamrock Run team deadline January 31, 2016! (Portland)

Shamrock Run

The Shamrock Run is arguably one of Portland's biggest races. Each year it sells out its 35,000 entries distributed over four events: 5k walk, 5k run, 8k run, 15k run, and half marathon run. It's more fun to run with friends, and getting a team together for this particular event has a couple of advantages.

A Shamrock Run team has to have a minimum of 15 adult runners, meaning they are at least 13 years of age. Younger runners can also be part of the team, but don’t count towards the 15 person minimum. Each team member can sign themselves up for whichever distance they choose, and they enjoy a $4 discount on their registration fee. To register online, you will need the team number from your team captain. As a team member, your bib number, participant shirt, and any ordered merchandise will be shipped to your team captain a few weeks before race day.

The captain, as a thank you and incentive for organizing a team, will receive a gift card to Stanford’s restaurant, and if your team has more than 35 members, you’ll also get a free event sweatshirt. If your team is even bigger, and your 75 or more friends are forming a Super Team, then Shamrock Run will donate $5 per team member to the charity of your choice.

Team registration deadline is January 31st; all team members’ registrations have to be received by Shamrock Run by that date.
