Race Preview: 2016 Fall Creek Run Around (20m, 15k, 5k)
Through February 19th, entry for the 20 miler is $40, 15K is $30, and the 5K is $20. For those under 18 or older than 60, there is a $5 discount. It covers the race and a breakfast burrito from a local business. Event shirts are an additional $12 and DOE registrations are $10 more from 8:15 to 9:45.
The 15K is point to point, and the shuttle leaves Winberry park at 9:35. Described as ‘challenging’, the 5K is an out and back. These are all road races, but the long distance has some hard dirt road. Each course has aid stations, so there will be support. Awards will be given out to the overall winners and 3 deep in 5 year age groups.
Challenging runs are a staple of winter training and it seems this event is a good way to get a feel for how your fitness level is measuring up before the racing season ‘officially’ starts. February 20th is just under a month away, plenty of time to get in a few more good workouts, then line up at one of these distances and put yourself to the test.
