Kicking off the Bend Brewfest: A preview of the 2015 Twilight 5k Run/Walk

We are right in the swing of Craft Beer Month here in Oregon. Despite living over here in the Valley, when I think “craft beer” in Oregon, my mind wanders to the great city of Bend. On Thursday, August 13th, 2015, Superfit Productions in Bend will once again host the Deschutes Brewery Twilight Run 5k. Just because Craft Beer Month will have ended by then, it doesn’t mean the taps will have stopped flowing.

Participants will enjoy pleasant temperatures, a great course, post race food and a beer garden at Deschutes featuring their summer ale, Twilight Ale. The start and finish will be near the Deschutes Brewery Warehouse (on Shevlin Hixon Dr.) There is a good turn-by-turn description on the race website, but expect to run through neighboring roads and river footpaths that include a couple of bridge crossings. There will be one aid station providing water during the race. There were almost 550 runners in 2014, so expect a solid field.

The race kicks off the Bend Brewfest and appropriately, all runners will culminate the race with a beer, post-race food (for purchase), and live music. Awards will be given for top male/female and masters (40+) winners and a portion of the proceeds from this race will be donated to the Bend Ronald McDonald House.
