The Oregon Senior Games, an annual event, are open to Oregonians age 50 and older (which is still very young, for runners!). The 2015 edition is scheduled for June 17-21 in Bend, and this year’s line-up includes a 5k race, a 5k racewalk event, and a track meet with running and field events.
The 5k run and racewalk will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Summit High School in Bend. Starting on the school’s track, the runners and non-racewalking walkers will head out first at 8a, followed by the racewalkers at 9:10a. The racewalk will be held entirely on the track, while the 5k will be on a course including surrounding roads. Register online for the 5k here for $20.
The track and field meet, also at Summit High School, will start at 9a on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Running events include the 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m. Field events include shot put, discus, javelin, hammer throw, triple jump, long jump, high jump, and pole vault. Registration is $15 for the first event, and $5 for each additional event. The Senior Games will take place at the same time as the Junior Olympic Development Meet, which will be a great way for young runners to see how competitive “us old folks” can be! Register for the Track Meet online here.
There is also a Games registration fee, which is separate from the fees for each event. This fee is $35.
