Coach Jim’s runners at lululemon Pearl.
This Saturday, Coach Jim and his group of experienced pace group leaders will be starting out from the lululemon Pearl District at 1231 NW Couch for a two-part run totaling 14 miles.
As always, the runs are free and open to any who wish to participate. Dividing the route into two loops makes it a good training opportunity for runners planning on a spring marathon or half marathon. Pacers will lead groups at paces about 8 minutes per mile to about 12 minutes per mile.
Please arrive no later than 7:45a, and keep in mind there is only one restroom at lululemon. Come prepared to run in all weather conditions, and remember to bring your own hydration and nutrition. Even when it’s cool out, it’s important to drink water or energy drink through your run! These runs are also a great “trial run” for whatever food items you’re planning to eat during your race, even though it’s still months away.
The 8-mile route will take runners through NW Portland up to Leif Erickson, for an out-and-back with incline for the first half and decline for the second half. There are porta-potties on Leif Erickson which you will reach about five miles into your run.
After the first out-and-back, runners will set out on the 6-mile route. This is another out-and-back, running along the waterfront on the west side. The turnaround is under the Marquam Bridge.
