By that we mean HAZELnuts. Of course.
Put on by Race Northwest, the 2014 Mount Angel Run for Your Nuts is a 5k that combines the two favorite things of some lucky hazelnut-loving runner out there. Home to hundreds of hazelnut growers, this chunk of the Willamette Valley is scenic in its own right, and if you’re into the under-the-radar Nutella ingredient, this is definitely the run for you.
The 5k course follows one of the more popular routes in the Mt. Angel area and features a gradual figure-8 climb, followed by a solid downhill to the finish. This is a race that if you can push through the hills early and run hard for the first 2 miles, you may be rewarded with a new PR by the downhill.
A run and walk, you’ll be able to save plenty of energy for after-race festivities surrounding Mount Angel’s Hazelnut Fest and German holiday market. While you’re jogging along, you can look forward to local wineries and breweries featuring their wares, hazelnuts, hazelnut-inspired foods, and regional arts and crafts available to get you into the holiday spirit.
