This week’s 10-mile run is along a lovely route with views of Portland’s riverfront, along the Eastbank Esplanade to the Springwater, turning around near Powell Blvd.
Where: Lululemon Pearl District at 1231 NW Couch in Portland
What time: The run will start at 8a, so be there by 7:45 to use the potty and find your pace group
Distance: 10 miles
Lululemon Pearl route along the waterfront:
After staring out from lululemon, Coach Jim will lead his runners through NW Portland on the low-traffic NW 19th Ave up to NW Thurman and then over to run down Naito to the Broadway Bridge. Once on the Eastside Esplanade, you’ll run on the floating dock and pass your three-mile mark just after you run under the Burnside Bridge.
From there, you’ll follow the path to the Springwater, passing OMSI and the U.S.S. Blueback and jumping onto the Springwater Corridor for just a short distance. After passing under Powell (the Ross Island Bridge), you’ll celebrate hitting mile five and turn back to retrace your steps to lululemon.
As for parking, there is a parking ramp under Whole Foods; or you can park west of the I-405 in allowed spots for free.
Coach Jim and his pace group leaders provide a safe, supportive way for anyone to log their long run. There is no cost to attend. Join their facebook group to introduce yourself!
