After a few months of what I would call “ho-hum releases”, I found June to be a pretty solid month for new music. I was actually able to come up with a top-9 playlist much quicker than in months past.
My playlist includes cuts from some pop-punk/alternative bands I listened to in my college years (The Maine, Say Anything), as well as some some bluesy-rock powerhouses (Jack White, Rival Sons). Like always, I stumbled across some new bands that really have shook up my listening habits this month. The singer popcaan, a reggae-infused hip-hop artist, has been dominating my summer so far. This is the case for the closing song on this playlist, Shine on Me by SomeKindaWonderful. I sprinkled in a few other songs by First Aid Kit, Vacationer, and Miniature Tigers to round out the list. I probably could have gone 15 songs deep in June – it was that good.
In June, I ran only the Bald Peak Half , which was probably good considering how challenging certain parts of the course were. These songs (amongst others) were hitting my ears and powering me through this race and all my daily runs. I also stopped travelling for work this past month, so while I was ECSTATIC to not be away from home, I did not get to experience any new or fun places to run.
What did you listen to that I missed?
