Any event that advertises a Post-Race Wine Celebration has got my attention. Now, I know Portland is a beer town, but just outside of glorious PDX are some of the best vineyards you’ll find in the NW. Fueled By Fine Wine combines my two favorite hobbies: Drinking wine & running. Sign. Me. Up.
I also love the fact that this event is limited to 1200 runners and, word has it, if you think it sounds awesome like I do, you better register soon. This event will sell out SOON.
I am very excited about the course, click here to view the map. I cannot imagine a more perfect event than running through the vineyards of Dundee Hills. Organizers say runners will be on “unpaved vineyard trails as they wind through rows of grapes and under branches of Oregon’s prized hazelnut trees” which I think sounds delightful.
Course organizers also say that the course is HARD (yes, in all caps on their website) which I do not doubt, but the sweet reward of world class wine waiting at the finish is more than enough motivation for me to run this one. Race organizers are also working with local Dundee charities and Oregon sponsors to create an exciting event for the region and at the same time supporting the local economy.
The event registration fee, $85 until it sells out, and includes a tech race shirt, medal, race timing by AA Sports, wine glass, and admission to the after-race party, which includes a tasting of acclaimed Dundee Hills.
Because my primary reason for running this event is the post-race party, I want to give you a little more detail about that. This event will feature world class Dundee Hills AVA fine wines from over 20 wineries and starts at 9:00AM, ample motivation for me to go FAST.
Admission to the wine celebration is included for all registered runners. Runners may also purchase up to 2 additional tickets for their guests. The cost is $20 and includes a 21oz etched Pinot Noir glass. Additional tickets are limited and organizers recommend you purchase early as there may not be any available on race day.
This event also benefits A Family Place, MS Society Oregon Chapter, and NW Newfoundland Rescue.
