Race Preview: Horse Lake Trail Runs, Wenatchee, WA

Horse-Lake-Trail-Run-Logo-2014The 2014 Horse Lake Trail Runs will offer two different race distances: 5 miles and  half marathon. Both runs will be on trails throughout the 1,700 acre Horse Lake Preserve. Be ready for tough climbs as well as gorgeous views of the North Cascades and and the Wenatchee and Columbia river valleys. The Horse Lake Trail Runs are also the first in a trail run series. For more information, visit the Wenatchee Valley Trail Run Series website.

The half marathon will run two loops (not a double loop) through the wildlife preserve, and you will climb close to 1,000ft – twice! The 5 mile run uses the first and last miles of the half marathon; its climb is “just” 700ft over the first three miles with a downhill to the finish.

Registration is online until May 8th. On May 9th you can register in person at the packet pickup times at Arlberg Sports, 25 N. Wenatchee Ave. in downtown Wenatchee, and Saturday, May 10, 2014, 8 a.m. to 8:55 a.m., at the Horse Lake Reserve. Registration includes race entry, post-race refreshments, and a one-year membership to the Chelan-Douglas Land Trust. A t-shirt can also be purchased for $15.
