For those of you who know me, or may come to know me, one of my features that is well-known is the fact that I have headphones in. This is pretty much all the time, except for when I am just hanging out with my wife and kids. I do have a few podcasts and spoken word stuff I listen to, but primarily it’s pumping music.
I would like to think that I have a wide reaching taste in music. Even though I typically go towards an Indie or Alternative blend, I do not pigeon hole myself into any one genre. I have seen John Mayer, Brooks & Dunn, The Deftones, and REO Speedwagon live on seperate occasions. I own the entire Garth Brooks discography, Big Tymers and Nelly albums (yikes, I know), and a large amount of albums from bands hardly anyone has ever heard of.
I am always on the search for the latest and greatest tunes – especially ones that I can use to pump me up on those cold winter mornings or pushing through the last few miles of a race. The Rdio music service and app has been the greatest vessel for me, but I find that sometimes the greatest recommendations come word of mouth or when someone tells me I need to check out a certain band or song.
Each month, I am going to be letting you into my world of music and what I am currently rocking out to. (Disclaimer: I typically keep it “clean”, but have a few songs which may have inappropriate language. Listen at your own risk – but it really should be a rare occasion.) My first playlist is themed. It is pretty simple to figure out, but as this month was my return to running it fits in nicely.Happy listening and happy running!
