Run Oregon Tunes: 2014 Year in Review

It’s official – 2014 is coming to an end. And after 12 monthly and 8 other themed playlists, so has my music. I think 2014 was an interesting year of music for me. My favorite band of all time (Anberlin) put out their last album and I got to see them live on their last ever stop through Portland – definitely a sad moment.

I listened to a lot of music, and a few albums blew me away. But unlike many past years, my Top-10 was not that difficult. Usually, it’s a continual debate come December to choose which albums cracked my list. But with this year I only found 11 actually worthy – and one which came out in December so it was the logical choice to keep out of my top albums. I’m not sure if that means that 2014 was filled with average music, or maybe my tastes have shifted and mellowed that it takes a standout album to satisfy me. Whatever the case, I have listed them below. But first – the links to all my playlists this year.

Matt’s Top-10 Albums of 2014

  1. Bad Suns – Language and Perspective
  2. The Griswolds – Be Impressive
  3. Vacationer – Relief
  4. TV on the Radio – Seeds
  5. Timothy Bloom – S/T
  6. Caribou – Our Love
  7. Accents – Tall Tales
  8. Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness – S/T
  9. The Colourist – S/T
  10. Bear Hands – Distraction

In 2015, I will be switching over to Spotify for my music, so make sure you join me there! They have a deal right now for 3 months for only .99 – an amazing deal!
