Come to the High Desert for the Smith Rock Classic

Smith Rock State Park is an epic place for trail running, and there’s a great race opportunity coming soon. The 2026 Smith Rock Classic features a 50 Miler, a 50k, and a 10 Miler. This event, hosted by Alpine Running Company, will be on Saturday May 30th this year. Runners can look forward to the beauty of the Crooked River Grasslands and views of the Cascade mountain range.

All races will take place in Skull Hollow. The 50 Miler will start first at 6:00AM and will follow a 25 mile loop done twice. There is 7500 feet of gain and loss and most of the terrain is on single-track trails (though 20% is on gravel.) There are 7 full aid stations and 1 more with minimal provisions.

The 50k will begin at 8:00AM with similar terrain as the 50 Miler, though this race has 4500 feet of gain and loss. There are 4 full aid stations for this distance.

Lastly the 10 Miler will depart at 9:00AM. There is 2200 feet of gain and loss and 50% of this route will be on single track trails and the other 50% will be on dirt roads. There is just 1 aid station for this route.

After you’ve celebrated crossing the finish line, take advantage of the post-race burrito bar! There will also be beverages from Cascade Lakes and Athletic Brewing. All participants will get a custom finish award and the top finishers will get some awesome sponsor swag.
