The Tracksmith Meridian Shorts and Tank – Built for the Heat

After months of rain, gray skies, and layering up for every run, it finally feels safe to say that summer running season is here. And with the return of sun comes the annual shift in gear — out with the long sleeves and tights, in with shorts and tanks.

But while pretty much any lightweight top and short combo will do okay in warm weather, Tracksmith is aiming for something a little more refined (and a lot more high-performance) with their new Meridian items in their Summer Collection.

We’ve been testing out the Meridian Shorts and Tank, and they make a strong case for upgrading your warm-weather running kit.

Meridian Tank

The Meridian Tank is as stripped down and performance-focused as it gets. It’s made from the same performance knit as the shorts (83% nylon, 17% spandex), with four-way stretch and ventilation technology that actually works. It wicks sweat quickly, dries fast, and doesn’t cling when things heat up.

The cut is athletic but never restrictive. Usually I recommend sizing down in Tracksmith apparel, but this feels more like standard sizing. While it feels featherlight, the construction still has a premium feel and is tough enough to stand up to daily training. It’s one of those pieces that kind of disappears once you start running.

Meridian Shorts

Right off the bat, these feel different. Ultralight and breathable, the Meridian Shorts are split shorts built for heat and high intensity. The fabric is a smooth, stretchy performance knit (83% nylon, 17% spandex) that breathes well and has a barely-there feel. On the inside, the liner — which they call “ultrasoft” — really does live up to the description. It’s the kind of liner you forget is even there, which is exactly what you want on a sweaty day.

Where these really stand out is storage. Tracksmith managed to sneak in eight pockets without making the shorts feel bulky. That includes seven drop-ins and one with an internal drop-in — perfect for gels, keys, cards, or even a small phone — all with zero bounce. There’s also a shirt loop in the back for when the tank inevitably comes off mid-run. Bonded hems and Merrow stitching on the liner help prevent any unwanted chafing.

Final Thoughts

Not the cheapest option out there, but if you’re logging serious miles in the sun, these are built to go the distance.

The Tracksmith Summer Collection isn’t just warm-weather gear — it’s gear made with heat and performance in mind. If you’re training through the summer and want pieces that are lightweight, functional, and thoughtfully built, the Meridian Shorts and Tank are definitely worth a look.
