The ORRC is back at Blue Lake Park to celebrate the summer solstice and Dave Green, a longtime club member and volunteer.
Dave’s Solstice Run at Blue Lake is a 5k that takes place on the evening of Thursday, June 20th this year. Dave Green was an active board member of the ORRC who joined the club in 1981 and became president of the club in 1992. He was considered the “Treasurer Extraordinaire” who helped out the ORRC in tough financial times, and he was also a race director for many events, including the original Blue Lake Runs.
This race is a family-friendly event just as Dave preferred, and it includes a Kid’s Fun Run at 5:50PM. The 5k will follow at 6:00PM, and it’s a loop course contained entirely at Blue Lake Park. Because the park closes at 8:00PM, the race has a hard cut-off at 7:30PM, which means you’ll be home to tuck into bed fairly early. The cost is $45 for the 5k (kid’s race is free!) and parking will be included in the race entry fee. You’ll pick up your parking pass when you get your bib number at registration pick-up.
In the tradition of Summer Solstice, popsicles will be available to all after the race!
