While HOKA has undeniably earned its reputation as a trailblazer in the realm of revolutionary footwear, it’s time to shift the spotlight towards a lesser-explored facet of their prowess—cold weather HOKA apparel. While the brand has long been hailed for its innovative and game-changing shoes, Hoka’s foray into the realm of winter clothing is a testament to their commitment to all-encompassing performance and comfort.
Cold Weather Layer
The Cold Weather Layer is a great addition as a base layer under a vest or other top. The shirt I received is the beautiful Sunlit Ocean, and too thin (for me) to be worn without another layer on top or underneath. This thinness means it is lightweight and quick dry after the run (or after the wash). The length of the body, including high neck, and the sleeves left me feeling well covered at the base.

HOKA highlights this top as good for everyday running or for use on the trails. The 100% recycled polyester engineered mesh helps out the environment while supporting the athlete. As said on their website: “Delivering a slim-fit silhouette that keeps you dry with a textured thermal interior; you’ll have no excuse not to run this winter.”
Active Woven Pant
Next up is the Active Woven Pant. These comfy pants are lightweight yet provide much more warmth than I expected. I was comfortable wearing them for walks outside in the 40s. And they are so cozy that I’m happy to wear them around the home any time. And last but not least, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the double-pockets on each side.
#AllThePockets

Made for hiking, these pants are great for lots of situations. The adjustable drawcord at the hem and ankles helps protect from wind and rain. “Geared for both urban and outdoor adventures, the Active Woven Pant has been thoughtfully designed with a quiet, stretch woven material that’s ultra-soft against the skin.” I am literally wearing, and loving, these woven pants after finishing up a short yoga session right now.
ColdSnap Vest
Rounding out the cold weather attire is the ColdSnap Vest, which HOKA describes as “a winterized version of the classic trail vest”. It is insulated with 100% recycled polyester, not down, so there’s no need to fear ruining your “puffy” in the PNW rain!
The vest has four zippered pockets – which I couldn’t love more: two chest pockets and two hand pockets for all your essentials.
The color choices in the women’s category are a royal blue or ‘Raisin’, sort of a mauve-y purple and has a bit of a taper at the waist for a less boxy look, while the only color options in the men’s category is black.
The HOKA labeled tag on the bottom front of the vest is reflective and I wish a few more strips had been added for visibility, but overall this lightweight vest adds warmth without bulk and the versatility of layering with functionality. I recommend sizing down on this one!
