Worth Every Hill: 2023 Columbia Gorge Marathon & Half Marathon (Hood River, OR)

Columbia Gorge Marathon & Half Marathon is one of the most beautiful courses for a race EVER.

Done. End of description. Sign up now.

Still reading? Okay then… With the leaves changing colors and the Columbia River roaring past, there are nearly constant beautiful sights along this race. The marathon course is an out and back, with half marathon participants being bused to their starting line.

There are also options for a relay half marathon (with the team in charge of mid-point transportation) and the Dog Leg Half Marathon (for those with a furry runner friend). The half marathon course has a generous 7-hour cut-off time to allow participants of many paces to sign up.

Most of the course weaves along the Historic Columbia River Highway, a paved trail that winds near the Columbia River. Hills will have participants going up and down throughout the race, and grateful for the aid stations every 1-3 miles for support.

At the finish line, all participants (including the running dogs) earn a finishers medal. All human participants also receive a beanie that is just perfect for recovery comfort. The after party includes a catered fajita taco lunch with fresh apples and hot apple cider. All participants must be done by 3:30pm to let all the volunteers wrap up and these sweet small towns to enjoy the rest of their Sunday.
