Recovery is Key – Dream Recovery is Here

As the sun dips behind Oregon’s iconic Douglas firs and the mist from the Willamette River hangs in the air, runners across the state are lacing up their shoes for another adventure. Yet, amidst the allure of breathtaking trails and stunning landscapes, there’s one essential aspect often overlooked: sleep.

Just like the intricate patterns of the Portland Rose Garden, sleep weaves an intricate pattern in a runner’s performance tapestry. Beneath the quirky Voodoo Doughnut culture lies a truth every Oregonian runner knows – quality sleep isn’t just an indulgence (like said donuts), it’s the secret weapon for conquering those steep inclines and miles of breathtaking terrain.

So, whether you’re gearing up for a marathon in Eugene or a trail run in Bend, don’t underestimate the power of sleep; it’s the extra gear you never knew you had. And Dream Recovery has some items that assist on that front.

3D Performance Silk Sleep Mask

I have used a sleep mask off and on again for a few years now. I don’t necessarily need it, but I do feel I go in spurts where having continual darkness is really beneficial. Sometimes it just clicks to limit sleep disruptions and bring on as much enhanced sleep performance as I can get.

The 3D Performance Silk Sleep Mask from Dream Recovery is made with the world’s finest 30 momme silk and featuring a silk strap – offering nice comfort. The strap seems like a nice middle ground of tightness. I have been on both ends of the spectrum before – straps being too tight that they feel like they are squeezing my head together, and too loose where I wake up with the mask around my neck. Time will tell, but this is nice so far.

The contour design ensures pressure-free rest for the eyes (really nice!), guaranteeing an uninterrupted and rejuvenating sleep experience. They do have an OG Mask if you don’t feel you need that. As athletes, we often seek optimal rest, and the 3D Performance Sleep Mask delivers just that. Having experienced its fit firsthand, I was pleasantly surprised by how well it conforms to the face, blocking out any intrusive light without causing discomfort.

Dream Tape

Dream Tape offers a unique twist on the familiar concept of adhesive patches. As runners who are well-acquainted with KT Tape, the introduction of Dream Tape is super interesting. This peculiar, yet seemingly scientifically-backed solution, involves applying an adhesive patch over your mouth to encourage nighttime nose breathing.

While the appearance may raise eyebrows the advantages of nose breathing is compelling. Beyond mitigating snoring, the benefits extend to enhanced recovery and respiratory health, as well as stress-reduction. In my initial brief 20-minute trial, the noticeable shift in lung engagement was undeniable. The potential long-term respiratory benefits seem plausible, though time will be the true test.

Crafted from bamboo silk, Dream Tape shares a resemblance with KT Tape, ensuring lightweight comfort. Infused with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, the medical-grade hypoallergenic adhesive maintains a secure hold during sleep. Available in three colors and packaged for a 30-day supply, Dream Tape’s commitment to promoting better breathing during slumber is commendable.

Performance Silk Pillowcase

While I never considered a pillowcase to be a vital element, a relatively recent 10-day, work-related trip shifted my viewpoint entirely. Amidst multiple hotels, I faced restless and sleepless nights due to scratchy and uncomfortable pillows. It dawned on me that the pillowcase’s impact on sleep quality is substantial. While I was craving my own pillowcase at the time, Dream Recovery’s Performance Silk Pillowcase is one I will now consider bringing along with me next time.

The 30 momme silk feels luxurious and cool to the touch. It also has a zipper closure, which can be nice instead of having excess material that just flops around. After a few weeks of use, I have no complaints. I notice the comfort when I first nestle in, and then I don’t think about it anymore – and THAT makes a good pillowcase. It comes in three colors.

Dream Recovery’s range of innovative products has played a nice role in some recovery essentials. While masks, sheets, and mouth tape as recovery may not be the first things we think about, each can play a key role in achieving restful sleep. And with restful sleep, comes running bliss.
