The trails in Bend are calling, and Running Lane Events is ready with the Broken/Vista 50K & Half Marathon. If you love to run with views of stellar mountain ranges nearby, this is the event for you. Both races feature loop courses that are primarily single track, and give you the chance to spy peaks of Central Oregon.
Here’s a little descriptor of the course:
The course is entirely off-road and primarily consists of beautiful single-track with medium technical difficulty. The remainder of the course is fire road. Both distances are a single-loop design starting and finishing from the Swampy Lakes Sno Park. In the 50k you’ll get some awesome views of Broken Top and Mt Bachelor!
The half marathon winds through the high alpine stands and into the meadows of Swede Ridge. The 50k ventures further east of the Swede Ridge and loops down into the Skyliners valley for an adventure characteristic of the PNW.
The half marathon features 1,350 feet of gain, while the 50K has 3,700 feet. The trails are winding and have punchy little up and down rollers all throughout both courses. It’s tough to beat running at four thousand feet in the high desert, but once you catch your breath, the views are worth it.
When: Saturday, June 17th. 50K starts at 7am. Half starts at 8am.
Where: Swampy Lakes Sno-Park
