The Columbia County Reindeer Run will take place in St. Helens on Saturday, December 3rd. Participants can walk or run a half marathon, 10k, or 5k; all starting and ending at Columbia River Foursquare Church. This means a warm indoor start/finish area with music and refreshments!
All three distances head generally south and southwest from the start. they use an out and back course through town, along the outskirts of town, and on country roads. The 5k turnaround point is a small loop around McBride Elementary School before heading back north on Columbia Blvd. The 10k starts the same way, but continues on to its turnaround on Millard Rd. The half marathon also shares the same starting miles, but adds a long southward leg on Hazen Rd to its turnaround at the half way mark.
This event is a nonprofit fundraiser for the Columbia Pacific Foodbank and the Meals-on-Wheels program through the St. Helens Senior Center. Last year’s record 300 participants provided $11,000 for those programs!
Don’t forget to wear your costume for this event. The costume contest winner will win a free entry to next year’s event. All participants will receive a long-sleeved tech shirt and a finisher medal. And be sure not to miss the free massages available, as well.
