Have a Blooming Good Time at the 2022 Camellia Festival Race (Newberg)

Eclectic Edge Racing puts on a huge number of races all over western Oregon, many of which are well outside the Portland metro area. Other races are closer to Portland but a bit off the beaten path, including the CPRD Camellia 5k/10k in Newberg (about halfway between Tigard and McMinnville), which takes place on April 9th, 2022.

This annual race takes place in conjunction with the Newberg Camellia Festival, so racers can enjoy the festival afterward. Race swag includes a potted Camellia plant and a race shirt for all registrants, as well as the chance to win door prizes. A portion of race proceeds go to benefit the Chehalem Park and Recreation District Youth Sports Programs and Scholarships.

Check out recap of the 2021 event!

Both 5K and 10K routes take place entirely within city limits. The 5K looks more or less like a rectangle, while the 10K is harder to describe in geometric terms but is still mostly straightaways and right angle turns. Eclectic Edge describes it as a “mostly flat elevation course.”
