Ever run a race and think, “who designs these insane courses?!?” or, “will this hill ever end?!” or, “I need a nap!”
Maybe you have thought all of these things and more, as you made your way down a wandering forest trail. Or maybe you’ve been listening to your friends who have shared their bizarre, yet inspiring stories of adventure, and now you’re curious. Either way, Go Beyond Racing has the event for you!
The NUT 50K & 17M races are both point to point events along the beautiful North Umpqua Trail (NUT) in South Central Oregon. The trail follows the Umpqua River, within the Umpqua National Forest, and is fully, an uphill run. Both races end at Lemolo Lake, with scenery that will take your breath away.
The 50K has 5,800 feet of gain, and the 17 miler has 3,500 feet. Both races will feature the Dread & Terror section (it’s what it sounds like), and will also leave you breathless. But in the end, this course is worth it.
Having run this in 2019, I can safely say this is one of my favorite events of all time. Not just for the course, but mainly for the race organizers, and their volunteers. Todd, Renee, and crew are among the best organizers out there, and every event they do is a good one. If you’re looking for a late summer race that will really challenge you, look no further.
When: Saturday, August 28th. 50K starts at 8am. 17M starts at 9:15am.
Cost/Registration: 50K = $120. 17M = $95. Register online at UltraSignup
