Running on Thanksgiving Day is a wonderful tradition for any family. Whether it is a mile, a 5K, or as far as possible from the dishes, getting outside is always great fun. This year’s Corvallis Turkey Trot still wants you to get outside, still wants you to have fun, and wants you to be safe too. So instead of joining with 1,500 other runners in the park, the race is going to virtual and can be completed any time between October 11 and December 5.
This yearly event will once again benefit Family Assistant Program, a where low-income families and individuals can receive financial scholarships to participate in Parks and Recreation programs. Your $30 can help kids take swimming lessons, elderly join fitness classes, adults try out dodge ball, and many other opportunities. The Turkey Trot is the largest fundraiser of the year for this program. If you want to help but not want to run this year, donations are welcomed (and can score you some fun swag for your generosity).
If you’re not sure where to walk or run, the team has put together some recommended routes in the area. And you’re encouraged to run during the week of Thanksgiving and post to their social media to win a fun prize
