Race Preview: 2019 FootZone’s I Like Pie Run/Walk (Bend)

I really appreciate when a race knows what the people want. That’s why I appreciate the folks behind I Like Pie Run/Walk in Bend. Because yes, after a 5K or a 1.5 mile run/walk, I would like some pie. Thank you.

Both distances are untimed and very inviting for the whole family to be involved. They start and end in the Old Mill District of Bend using flat, paved pathways and trails along the Deschutes River.

The event is super cheap ($10 for adults, $5 for kids), so participants are encouraged to bring five pounds of non-perishable food per person for NeighborImpact. Additional financial donations will benefit this local program and Girls on the Run (a youth running group that I love love love so please check it out).

And because it is “I Like Pie”, you’re also encouraged to bring along a pie to help with the pie feast. Anyone who brings a homemade pie gets a $10 FootZone gift certificate. Plus, there will be a pie baking contest with $50 gift certificates awarded to the top three pies in the “traditional” and “open” categories. So not only can you eat pie, but you could eat award winning pie.
