Saturday, October 19, 2019 marks the 11th Annual Regatta Run 5k in Tualatin benefiting the Corporal Matthew Lembke Scholarship Foundation. The scholarship is available to graduating Tualatin High School seniors. Mr. Lembke was a graduate of the class of 2005 who was on his third tour of duty of the Middle East in Afghanistan in 2009, when he sustained critical injuries from an IED. The result of which was an infection that lead to his death 18 days later.
Matthew was a selfless man who put his life on the line and paid the ultimate sacrifice for his country. He was beloved member of the Tualatin community and his spirit lives on through the scholarship foundation created in his name. Each January, applications are available in the TUHS College and Career Center for graduating seniors. 100% of the proceeds from the Regatta Run are used for scholarships.
