ORRC’s Up the Lazy River 10k is run on Memorial Day, a day to remember those who have fallen and those who fought for our country. Run at Mary S. Young Park at 19900 Willamette Drive in West Linn, this race offers beautiful views of the Willamette River and great pastoral county park start/finish area to spend time with friends.
Sign up online by 8 p.m. on May 24 to save yourself a little money. Online registration through that date is $35 for ORRC members and $45 for non-members. During the registration process, you have the option to add a $5 donation (or more) to support the Willie Fit program. Willie Fit is a Wilsonville High School program that makes training and goal-setting accessible to students who want a challenge.
There’s also a kid’s race! This race is free for all kids, and registration is available online or day of race. It will start around 10:30a, when the course is open. If your kiddo(s) are interested, just hang out around the finish line starting around 10:15a. Kids will be organized into “heats” based on their age, with the older kids starting further away from the finish.
If you’ve registered online by that May 24, you can pick up your packet early at Oregon City Brewing, 1401 Washington Street in Oregon City. Bibs will be available from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., during which time you’ll save $1 on a pint with your bib. And — save your bib after the race! If you take it to Oregon City Brewing between May 27 and June 3 (along with valid ID of course), you’ll get a complimentary pint.
Registration will also be available during packet pick-up for $45. The price jumps to $50 if you wait to sign up until race day, when registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Registration includes a finisher medal and a pair of Up the Lazy River socks made by Fitsok.
And, good news for those of you who don’t like running next to traffic … the course no longer runs along the shoulder of Highway 43! The new route sticks closer to the Willamette River and is primarily an out-and-back course. Don’t worry, there’s still a good hill or two. There’s a full course map online here.
