Mid Valley Small Race Previews: 2019 Victor Point Run for the Hills 5k/10k/15k & 2019 BLT Cheadle Lake 5k/10k

It’s time to run for the hills! The 4th annual 2019 Victory Point Run for the Hills is a fun opportunity to race as well as a great community event that benefits the Victor Point School in Silverton. The race will be held on Saturday May 4th and there will a 5k run/walk as well as 10k and 15k running options. There’s also a 1 Mile Kid’s Run. All of the courses will start and finish at the school and trek through the Cascade foothills.

The 5k will head towards Waldo Hills drive before turning back around. There are some slight elevation changes. The cost is only $20 until race day. The 10k is also an out and back course with beautiful views and a turnaround point at the Union Cemetery. There are rolling hills and an ascent of 523 feet total. The cost is $25. The 15k has both paved and gravel roads and 5 climbs on the course. This course option is $30 until race day and is considered pretty challenging with a total ascent of 700.83 feet and a max elevation of 1,071.19 feet.  The 1 Mile Run is meant for kids 12 and younger. Kids will run around the track and onto a private driveway, both featuring gravel roads and a few small rolling hills. The cost is only $10.

What: 2019 Victor Point Run for the Hills 5k/10k/15k

When: Saturday, May 4th, 2019. 1 Mile Kid’s Run starts at 8:00AM, 15k starts at 8:15AM, and 10k and 5k begin at 8:45AM.

Where: Victor Point School (1175 Victor Point Road SE, Silverton OR)

Cost: 5k is $20, 10k is $25, and 15k is $30. 1 Mile Kid’s Run is $10. Cost increases $5 on race day.

Another option on May 4th is the 10th Annual BLT Cheadle Lake 5k/10k Fun Run/Walk & Kids Obstacle Dash in Lebanon. This race takes place at Cheadle Lake Park and benefits Build Lebanon Trails, (BLT) which helps maintain and develop the trails in Lebanon.

The course will be a mix of paved roads, packed gravel, and hard packed dirt on a track. There’s not a huge change in elevation and the trail will follow a loop around Cheadle Lake at the park. Map routes can be viewed here. The cost of all distances (expect kid’s race) is $30.

The kid’s obstacle challenge, which is limited to only 200 participants, will be held in a grassy field with all sorts of fun including a gunny sack race, a pool noodle slalom, a balance beam, a mystery toy draw, and a bunch more. Adults are welcome to participate with their children and the cost is only $10.

There will be aid stations with water, as well as goodie bags, food and drinks available after the race, and raffle prizes.

When: Saturday, May 4th, 2019. 5k/10k and Kid’s Obstacle Dash begin at 9:00AM and 5k and 10k Walk begin at 9:35AM.

Where: Cheadle Lake Park (3754 Weirich Drive, Lebanon, OR)

Cost: All races are $30 except for the Kid’s Obstacle Dash which is $10. Registration for Kid’s Dash ends on May 4th at 11:59PM. There is also the option of a family rate of $50 for an unlimited number of family members and events.
