Gorgeous Coast Relay

by Kerry Loehr, Gorgeous Series Co-Director

The newest, and most adventurous event of the Gorgeous Series! This one day, one van, one Gorgeous Coast relay spans from Astoria to Cannon Beach, Oregon, taking in lush forests, panoramic vistas, the beach, and coastal wildlife. It’s not for the faint of heart in terms of both challenges and scenery, featuring beach running and a few legs of single-track trail running.

Starting at Astoria Column the 2019 Gorgeous Coast Relay offers unparalleled views of the historic areas of Ft. Stevens, Astoria, and the mouth of the mighty Columbia River. BONUS, they allow runners to ascend to the top of the Astoria Column to snap pics of all the majesty. The Gorgeous course runs through Warrendale, Ft. Stevens State Park (to a unique Exchange with epic ocean views), into Gearhart, through Seaside, and then up and over Tillamook Head to another iconic landmark, Ecola State Park. Finishing up at a brewery in Cannon Beach, OR near Haystack Rock.

Teams of up to 6 Gorgeous runners (you can run it with less) tackle 12 legs spanning the 48 mile Gorgeous course.  The Gorgeous Finish Party offers only the best, with a free full pint of beer (or Humm kombucha), a Gorgeous pint glass, a Gorgeous t-shirt, and a unique Gorgeous medal. AND, we’re proud to partner with local nonprofits and schools, including Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition and Tillamook HS Cross Country.

So, what are you waiting for? Round up a friend or two, or five, and register now! Or be really Gorgeous and run the whole relay yourself. Go to www.gorgeousseries to sign up.

Still not sure? We also do FREE monthly pub runs (3 and 5 mile options) to showcase pub partners, get a little training in, and raffle off Gorgeous Prizes afterward. Here is a link to our February Gorgeous Pub Run (Weds. 2/27, 6:30pm) from McMenamins Kennedy School.

See all you Gorgeous Runners soon!
