Run Oregon Road Trip: 2019 My Better Half Marathon (Seattle)

Orca Running describes My Better Half Marathon as “a running event like no other. Romance. Kitch. Sweat.” The event takes place just a few days before Valentine’s and gives runners the chance to celebrate love, spend time with a friend, or check out the dating scene while running around in loops.

Let me explain…

There are lots of options in this race including 5K, 10K, half marathon, and relay races. All of the events use various loops within Seward Park. Those completing the relay race get to break up the half marathon distance between them however they chose, passing a chip bracelet between them.

When registering for one of these events, participants get to choose from one of four categories: Bromance (two guy friends), Besties (two girl friends), Lovers (romantically involved), or Lonely Hearts (solo runner). Runners who sign up with someone else will receive one side of a heart medal and the partner gets the other. Those who sign up solo can mark on their bib if they are interested in making a new connection so maybe by the end of the race, they’ll have a new running friend to compare medals with.

Every participant receives a long-sleeve tech shirt, free race photos, finisher medal, and an oatmeal bar at the finish line (complete with toppings, fruit, pastries).

Take a trip to Seattle this February 10 with someone you love, or, like a good romantic comedy, in search of someone to love.
