Destination Runcation: 2019 Lake Mead Marathon / Half / 10K / 5K (Nevada)

Some of us are dreaming of a white Christmas and others are already looking forward to warmer temps! A good getaway race to chase away the post-holiday winter blues is the Lake Mead Marathon (and half, 10K, and 5K) at the Lake Mead National Park on January 13, 2019. This is a quick 40 minute drive from Las Vegas and 15 minutes from Hoover Dam, so there’s lots to explore!

The course starts at the Boulder Beach picnic area and will roll along the Mountain Loop trail (don’t let the name fool you – it’s paved!). The course descriptions use words like “climb” and “rolling terrain” so while it may not lead to PR times, it’ll be a memorable event with tunnels, great views, and desert-in-January temperatures. Click here to check out the course maps.

Racers will be treated to aid stations nearly every mile, and, of course, a post-race meal. Check out the website for more info on discount hotel rooms, race day timelines, and packet pickup information. If you’re feeling keen on a quick adventure, register here!
