From the second I saw NOBULL shoes online, I was intrigued. The no-frills shoes look pretty basic, but still appeal to both my functional and fashionable sides. I was thrilled to get to try out the NOBULL Runners. When my Dark Grey Knit Runners arrived, I immediately slipped them on and walked around my house. My first thought was, “I think I’m really going to like these!” The stretchy knit sock construction fit nicely and even had some strategically placed padding that sits on either side of the ankle for comfort and fit. They had just the right amount of “cush” without being too soft and they had the great neutral feel that I like. I think I fell in love before I even tried running in them. As picky as I am about my running shoes, that’s kind of a big deal!

When I first put my NOBULL Runners on for a run, I was a concerned about the laces. They are a little bulky and I was afraid they would come untied. My fears proved to be unfounded, as they stayed put throughout my entire run. And, I later discovered that the chunky laces have a purpose beyond keeping your shoes on – they are reflective! How cool is that?
With a 10mm drop, the NOBULL Runners have a natural feel to them. The inside is pretty flat, but with a nice amount of “cush” providing for a comfortable run. Often when I try new running shoes my knees, ankles, or soles of my feet will be uncomfortable for the first few miles. With the NOBULL Runners, I didn’t notice a thing. They were comfortable and just the right fit from the start. In fact, I started to forget I was even wearing new shoes, as my feet and my body settled right in without any complaints. The tread on these shoes is much different than most running shoes, but it seemed to be quite effective in various terrain – and I didn’t even get rocks stuck in the bottom of my shoes!

After wearing these shoes on multiple runs I started to realize a few things about them. First, my feet stayed quite warm in the breathable knit shoes despite these cooler days we’ve been having. Second, they are quiet shoes. You know how some running shoes are so bulky and stiff that you just can’t help but literally “pound the pavement?” Not with NOBULL! I realized how quietly I ran in these light, flexible shoes the other day when I ran up behind someone who was crossing the street to get his mail. Despite the fact that I got less than a foot away from him, he never even noticed me. (Sweet! I’m on my way to becoming a Ninja runner!) 🙂 The third thing I discovered about these shoes is that when I run in them, I just feel more athletic. OK, I know that sounds strange, but the construction of the shoes allows me to be light on my feet and just run easily. No bulk, no constriction, no extras, just great running shoes. And, did I mention they look pretty cool, too?
I am already stalking the NOBULL website and planning my next purchases. Besides some fun colors in the Runners, they also carry some great looking Trainers in a multitude of colors and several styles. I’ve already got a pair of these on my Christmas list. If they feel this good running, I can’t wait to get a pair of Trainers for my workouts. Dear Santa, I’d like one in every color, please!
