What Run Oregon is Wearing: Kari Traa Toril Jacket

Just in time for fall, I added the Kari Traa Toril Jacket to my collection of outerwear and have been pleased with how many times I’ve reached for it in the last few weeks.

The jacket is a nice softshell with insulation on the front. It also has stretch material under the arms to vent excess heat. Moisture wicking fabric all around it a must for runners and Oregonians in general. It also features Rudolf Bionic Finish® ECO, which is a sustainable and fluorine-free durable water repellent treatment.

It’s a thoughtfully designed jacket – the extra-long sleeves are one of my favorite features, as well as the thumbholes, reflective stripes on the wrists and down the back, and a high, but soft, neck for some extra coverage and warmth.

The cons of this jacket are the lack of pockets; it has just one – a zippered pocket on the right side at somewhat of a funky angle. It can fit my iPhone or my keys, but not both. Also, the main zipper pull is quite small, so when wearing gloves it’s a bit cumbersome to operate. I’d recommend the addition of a string pull so as not to add to the jacket weight, but to have a bit more maneuverability.

I’ve been loving this jacket for errands or walking the dog in the crisp mornings, but think it might be a bit overkill for running, at least in Portland. I may change my mind come January, but I look forward to taking it on my snowshoe outings or the warm ski days ahead!

There are so many other great gear picks from this company, from athletic wear to casual wear to footwear to accessories. Even if you aren’t looking to add any products right now, definitely check out their Facebook or Instagram pages to feel inspired and empowered!
