Athletes sure don’t take their bodies and health for granted, or they shouldn’t. As someone who has family members that is affected by kidney issues (my brother was born with one kidney, which is a condition called Renal Agenesis and his father-in-law is waiting for a kidney transplant), I feel personally compelled to speak of the importance of raising awareness for kidney health.
Our bodies are amazing and when they don’t work properly, it can cause a big impact. Enter: NW Kidney Kids. NW Kidney Kids is a program that provides support and education to families and youth (ages birth-18) with chronic kidney disease. The Strut Your Kidney 5K & 10K & 1 Mile Fun Run aims to educate the community and raise funds for all that NW Kidney Kids offers, from preventative services and resources for those who need help.
