It’s once again time to Race to the Bar! No, not that bar . . . but there will be post-race beer involved after you run along the beach (ahem. . . sandbar!) This annual evening race at Fort Stevens State Park is a fundraiser for the Lower Columbia Hospice. Choose from a 5K or 10K and run along hard packed sand – starting at the Peter Iredale shipwreck. Both courses are out and back, with the 10K taking runners to the South Jetty and back.
Your race entry includes a race shirt, Subway sandwich and fruit, a race bag, and 2 free servings of Fort George beer (for those 21 and over.) After the race there will be an awards ceremony, a bonfire on the beach, music, and the always scenic beach sunset.
Just writing about this race has me ready to pack up and head to the beach! This sounds like the perfect ending to a day at the beach.
