Race Preview: 2018 Rose City Relay (Portland)

Over the past few years, team relay race that take a small team of four to six people, one van and no overnight runs have become relatively commonplace. Terrapin Events’ Rose City Relay takes place on Saturday, June 30th, with its start and finish at Level Beer on the Columbia River and NE 148th St. The running relay course is 66 miles long, and teams can consist of two, four or six runners maintaining an average pace of 11 min/mile or better, while the walking relay is 47 miles long and perfect for walking teams with an average pace of 11-16 min/mile. All teams must finish within 12 hours of their start.

As is customary for many relays, one member of your team has to attend packet pickup and the team captain briefing, and local teams have to provide at least one volunteer for the race or pay a fee to hire a race monitor. Teams will start in waves from 7-11am, and all teams must complete the course by 7pm. Registration for this year’s race closed on June 1st, but if you’re still looking to join a team, you can fill out this form on the Terrapin website.
