Several weeks ago Columbia sent me a pair of Women’s Caldorado III’s to try out! I was able to wear these both on the road and on trails to see how they felt on different terrains. The Caldorado III is a trail shoe with a seamless abrasion resistant upper and soft forefoot flex zone. A cushioning collar foam and a reinforced toe cap adds protection and comfort. These shoes also had FluidGuide technology for midfoot stability and a smooth run on those beautiful trails. The full length rubber outsole has TrailShield, a protection plate integrated with a forefoot flex grooves. The traction patterns on the bottom of the shoe, provides plenty of traction on different surfaces you may encounter. Here are some basic specs:

As I ran on paved trails, dirt trails and the road, I found these shoes to give both support and comfort. With some trail shoes, I am only able to wear on strictly trails due to to stiffness. This wasn’t the case with the Columbia Montrail III. They had the support I needed on the trails, but are light enough and flexible enough for comfort on the road. They are stylish, my running friends commented on them. I really like that they are waterproof – that’s a big bonus living in Oregon!
I typically wear a size 9 in running shoes. I found that a Columbia 9 fit slightly large, but I was able to run just fine in them. I would recommend a half size smaller than what you typically wear, or better yet, try them on at a running store first.
