Head down to Riverfront Park along the Willamette River in Salem on June 10th with the whole family, (Fido included!) for the 2018 WillaMutt Strut 5k Run/Walk ! This awesome race will benefit the adoptable cats and dogs of the Willamette Humane Society and is a casual untimed event that is perfect for any fitness level.
This event features a 5k run and walk as well as “The Strut,” which is shorter (less than 1k) walk and all adults, children, and dogs can participate. Afterwards, there will be food, beer, music, and dog training demonstrations. Check out the obstacle course while you are there!
The WillaMutt 5k will follow a new route this year. You’ll head across the Peter Courtney Minto Island Bridge into Minto Brown Park. The Strut will take you around Riverfront Park. Both events will be untimed, so have some fun and relax! Bring you dog and let him or her explore (on a leash of course!) Check in for the race will begin at 9:00AM and there will be demonstrations and an adoptable dog parade to entertain you and your family. There’s a WillaMutt Contest at 10:00AM that you can enter your pet into and the 5k run will take off at 10:30AM. The Strut will begin at 10:40AM.
Registration is just $30 and includes a cotton t-shirt (upgrade to a dri-fit shirt for an additional $15) and kids under 12 can race free ($10 if they want a shirt.) Day of race registration is available but shirts will not be guaranteed. If you would like to help fundraise for this awesome event, you can find more information about that here.
