Oregon is famous for, among other things, some legendary runners. But few have reached the legendary status of Steve Prefontaine, who was from Coos Bay, OR. The South Coast Running Club’s original race, and one of Pre’s favorites, is something you can experience for yourself if you sign up for the 2018 Run of Two Cities 5k/10k on March 10th. You can literally run in Pre’s footsteps for this race.
Prefontaine loved hills and this course will not disappoint in that regard. The route is very hilly and challenging. You’ll start and end across from Mingus Park and as the event title suggests, the race will take you through both Coos Bay and North Bend. There are a few street crossings, despite the fact that the course was designed to minimize this as much as possible. The course is open to traffic, so please stay safe and follow the rules of the road!
The cost of the race is only $10 if you are a member of the South Coast Running Club and $20 if you aren’t. There will be overall and age group winners after the race and they will get ribbons. Post-Race snacks will be available to everyone.
