Race Preview: 2018 Fight for Air Climb (THIS WEEKEND!)

If you are looking for something different than the usual road or trail race, take an opportunity to try a “vertical” race! This weekend, climb “Big Pink” in downtown Portland in the Fight for Air Climb. Put on by Hood to Coast in an effort to raise money and awareness for the American Lung Association, participants’ stair step their way up to the 40th floor of the building, which is 525 steps, overlooking gorgeous downtown.

You have the opportunity to do 40, 80, 120, 160 or 200 flights of stairs. The Fight for Air Climb helps in the fight against lung disease. Each participant has a minimum of $100 fundraising goal to participate in the race which goes to American Lung Association. Firefighter, police officers, and other responders participate in the climb while wearing their full uniform.

Post-race, climbers can stay for brunch at the outstanding Portland City Grill which offers stunning city views. There will also be a 3 hour silent disco dance party to work out those sore climbing legs.

So, escape the ordinary race and participate in this vertical race for a good cause!
