Race Preview: 2017 High Alpine Half (Bend)

Last year, SuperFit Productions introduced the High Alpine Half and ran it alongside the Flagline 50K. By staggering the start times appropriately, runners for the half got to run on a portion of the same course as the 50K. Because of the success of the race, Super Dave Thomason brought it back again this year and has now dubbed the event the Flagline Trailfest.

Taking off from the foot of Mt Bachelor means your starting elevation is about 6,400 feet. Your first climb starts at about mile 2, followed by another climb around 3-1/2 miles and then anothe climb at mile 5. The course is best described as a challenging roller coaster with views like nothing else. This is a very worthy race in its own right, let alone the attachment to Flagline. Post race party takes place in the West Village Lodge at Mt Bachelor.

When: Sunday, September 17th. Race starts at 9:00am

Register: Online through Ultra SignUp or in store at FootZone of Bend. Cost is only $40 through August 27th, $45 after that date.
