2017 ORRC Dual Duel Rescheduled for Thursday, August 10

The following is from ORRC Dual Duel volunteer Race Director Daniel Brewer:

In light of anticipated record high temperatures and in the interest of public safety, the ORRC Dual Duel will be postponed until Thursday, August 10th, 2017.

ORRC has consulted with medical professionals, and despite any amount of cooling preparations we have arranged, it will simply be unsafe to hold this event in the excessive heat forecast for race day.

The event will now take place at the same time and venue, on Thursday, August 10th, at Catlin Gabel School, with the ORRC Mile heats beginning at 6:00 pm and the Dual Duel and 10k at 7:00. We will still finish under the lights around 9:30.

We will also have cool towels and misting stations available for all participants, in addition to lots of water and shade.

While we would love to see every participant on the new date, we know that will not be possible for everyone; therefore, ORRC would like to offer registered participants one of the following three options:

  • Participants may run as planned on the new date.
  • Participants may choose to have their registration deferred to another ORRC race of their choice up to a 10k and before August 31, 2018.
  • Participants may request a refund.
If you have already registered for the event, you will receive an email from the race director very soon with more details on the event’s new date. We will, therefore, keep online race registration open through at least Monday, August 7th.

We appreciate your patience and understanding. I look forward to seeing you at your next ORRC event.

I started the Run Oregon blog in February 2007, because I felt like running in Oregon and SW Washington deserved more positive coverage. I also wanted to level the playing field so that small, non-profit races could compete with big events; and to support LOCAL race organizers. I'm a Creighton Bluejay (undergrad) and an Oregon Duck (Sports Marketing MBA), and I live in Tigard with my husband and two kids. My "real job" is working for an incredibly awesome math textbook company doing marketing and production.
