Race Preview: 2017 Black Butte Ranch TRI for FUN triathlon

Sunday, July 2, 2017 families and friends will have a chance to test their swimming, biking and running skills at the family-friendly TRI for FUN held at the beautiful Black Butte Ranch. This event is perfect for first-timers, beginners, and all-ages. It was designed to be a fun opportunity to try a triathlon for the first time and to have fun in competition with family and friends. Combine this fun, friendly competition with the beautiful scenery of the Cascade Mountain Range, and you’ll have a time to remember.

There are several options to choose from, in addition to the sprint triathlon course for individuals, there is a team relay option available. Sprint duathlon and kids super sprint triathlon are also available. Those who register before June 10 will receive a complimentary race t-shirt.

Registration closes on Thursday, June 29 at midnight, so sign up now to ensure your entry to this fun event.

  • Sprint Triathlon (13+): $65

Sprint Triathlon Course
300 yard swim in the Lakeside Pool
9.3 mile through the curves and hills of Black Butte Ranch
3.5 mile run through the BBR meadow. Gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountain Range with close up views of Washington, Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Three Sisters, and Black Butte.
(Team relay available for this distance: 3 people per team)

Sprint Duathlon Course
9.3 mile bike through the curves and hills of Black Butte Ranch
3.5 mile run through the BBR meadow. Gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountain Range with close up views of Washington, Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Three Sisters, and Black Butte.

Kids Super Sprint Triathlon Course
100 yard swim
3.5 mile bike
1.2 mile run (Begins at Activities Center)

Race Day Schedule

  • 6:45am Race day packet pick-up at the Lakeside Activities Center
  • 6:50am Mandatory bike check by Blazing Saddles
  • 7:45am Race briefing (@ Lakeside Pool)
  • 8:00am Race begins (waves will be designated by the timer and swim time)
  • 9:00am Food tent opens with refreshments and snacks for finishers (Registrants and volunteers only)
  • 9:30am Sponsors and vendors open
  • 11:30am Raffle (T-shirts, water bottles, Sponsor Swag, and other awesome gifts)
