Getting into trail running can be a little intimidating. We have all seen photos on Instagram and marvel at the beauty of hitting the trails and forgetting about life for a little bit. I for one, have ran in numerous trail races, yet I remember back to my first foray into this sphere, and recalled how nervous I was to take on the challenge. THe inaugural Sandy Nature Trails Run is a 5k that is designed to be a good introduction to trail running and also a quick trail race for those who are seasoned veterans (there really aren’t that many solely 5k trail races out there).
The course will be held on single track trails through the forest in the small town of Sandy. Runners will race under tree canopies, alongside ponds and over a small covered bridge. The event aims to be completely local (part of the proceeds will benefit The Oregon Trail School District) and green (no water cups and no mess). Local (and complimentary) coffee is being provided by Mountain Moka and free donuts by Joe’s Donuts.
